1111 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1212 AN ACT
1313 relating to the applicability of the law governing the provision of
1414 state aid to certain local governments disproportionately affected
1515 by the granting of ad valorem tax relief to disabled veterans.
1616 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1717 SECTION 1. Section 140.011(a)(2), Local Government Code, is
1818 amended to read as follows:
1919 (2) "Local government" means:
2020 (A) a municipality adjacent to a United States
2121 military installation; [and]
2222 (B) a county in which a United States military
2323 installation is wholly or partly located; and
2424 (C) a municipality located in a county that:
2525 (i) is described by Paragraph (B); and
2626 (ii) has a population of:
2727 (a) more than 370,000 but not more
2828 than 380,000; or
2929 (b) more than 83,000 but not more than
3030 84,000.
3131 SECTION 2. Section 140.011, Local Government Code, as
3232 amended by this Act, applies to the eligibility of a local
3333 government to apply for a disabled veteran assistance payment
3434 beginning with the fiscal year of the local government that ends in
3535 the 2023 tax year.
3636 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
