55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to baccalaureate degree programs offered by certain public
88 junior colleges.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 130.306, Education Code, is amended by
1111 amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (b) to read as
1212 follows:
1313 (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a [A] public
1414 junior college offering a baccalaureate degree program under this
1515 subchapter may not offer more than five baccalaureate degree
1616 programs at any time.
1717 (b) At any time, South Texas College may not offer more than
1818 six baccalaureate degree programs under this subchapter, one of
1919 which must be a bachelor of applied science degree in child and
2020 family development.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2222 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2323 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2424 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2525 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
