 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the administration and conduct of elections.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Sections 52.092(a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f),
 Election Code, are amended to read as follows:
 (a)  Except as provided by Section 2.053(c) or 2.056(e), for
 an election at which offices regularly filled at the general
 election for state and county officers are to appear on the ballot,
 the offices shall be listed in the following order:
 (1)  offices of the county government:
 (A)  precinct offices;
 (B)  county offices [offices of the federal
 government];
 (2)  offices of the state government:
 (A)  district offices [statewide offices];
 (B)  statewide offices [district offices];
 (3)  offices of the federal [county] government [:
 [(A)  county offices;
 [(B)  precinct offices].
 (b)  Precinct offices [Offices of the federal government]
 shall be listed in the following order:
 (1)  constable [president and vice-president of the
 United States];
 (2)  justice of the peace [United States senator];
 (3)  county commissioner [United States
 representative].
 (c)  County [Statewide] offices [of the state government]
 shall be listed in the following order:
 (1)  county surveyor [governor];
 (2)  county school trustee (county with population of
 3.3 million or more) [lieutenant governor];
 (3)  county treasurer [attorney general];
 (4)  county tax assessor-collector [comptroller of
 public accounts];
 (5)  sheriff and tax assessor-collector [commissioner
 of the General Land Office];
 (6)  sheriff [commissioner of agriculture];
 (7)  county clerk [railroad commissioner];
 (8)  district and county clerk [chief justice, supreme
 court];
 (9)  district clerk [justice, supreme court];
 (10)  county attorney [presiding judge, court of
 criminal appeals];
 (11)  judge, county probate court; [of criminal
 appeals]
 (12)  judge, county criminal court;
 (13)  judge, county court at law;
 (14)  county judge.
 (d)  District offices of the state government shall be listed
 in the following order:
 (1)  criminal district attorney [member, State Board
 of Education];
 (2)  district attorney [state senator];
 (3)  family district judge [state representative];
 (4)  criminal district judge [chief justice, court of
 appeals];
 (5)  district judge [justice, court of appeals];
 (6)  justice, court of appeals [district judge];
 (7)  chief justice, court of appeals [criminal
 district judge];
 (8)  state representative [family district judge];
 (9)  state senator [district attorney];
 (10)  member, State Board of Education [criminal
 district attorney].
 (e)  Statewide [County] offices of the state government
 shall be listed in the following order:
 (1)  judge, court of criminal appeals [county judge];
 (2)  presiding judge, court of criminal
 appeals [judge, county court at law];
 (3)  justice, supreme court [judge, county criminal
 court];
 (4)  chief justice, supreme court [judge, county
 probate court];
 (5)  railroad commissioner [county attorney];
 (6)  commissioner of agriculture [district clerk];
 (7)  commissioner of the General Land Office [district
 and county clerk];
 (8)  comptroller of public accounts [county clerk];
 (9)  attorney general [sheriff];
 (10)  lieutenant governor [sheriff and tax
 assessor-collector];
 (11)  governor [county tax assessor-collector;
 [(12)  county treasurer;
 [(13)  county school trustee (county with population of
 3.3 million or more);
 [(14)  county surveyor].
 (f)  Offices of the federal government [Precinct offices]
 shall be listed in the following order:
 (1)  United States representative [county
 commissioner];
 (2)  United States senator [justice of the peace];
 (3)  president and vice-president of the United
 States [constable].
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
