A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the practice of barbering and cosmetology at an
establishment at a public secondary school.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 1603, Occupations Code, is
amended by adding Section 1603.359 to read as follows:
Sec. 1603.359. PRACTICE OF BARBERING AND COSMETOLOGY AT
ESTABLISHMENT AT PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL. (a) Notwithstanding
Section 1603.358, a person may operate an establishment on the same
premises as a public secondary school licensed under Subchapter E-3
without separating the facilities by a wall or other permanent
structure.
(b) The commission may adopt rules as necessary to implement
this section.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
