Frank, Chair, House Committee on Human Services     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB2243 by Campos (Relating to the provision of assistance to elderly persons in obtaining certain protective orders.), As Introduced     The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to the unknown nature of the number of individuals that would request assistance. The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to aid any elderly person requesting assistance in obtaining a temporary ex parte order. According to DFPS, since they would be required to assist any elderly person regardless of a validated finding of abuse, neglect or exploitation, it cannot be determined how many individuals would request assistance, therefore the fiscal impact cannot be determined at this time.
