A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to prohibiting the designation of polling place locations
on the campuses of institutions of higher education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 43, Election Code, is
amended by adding Section 43.008 to read as follows:
Sec. 43.008. CAMPUS POLLING PLACE PROHIBITED. (a) In this
section, "institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned
by Section 61.003, Education Code.
(b) The commissioners court of a county may not designate as
a polling place a location on the campus of an institution of higher
education located within the county.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
