7 | 7 | | relating to the use by certain municipalities of certain tax |
---|
8 | 8 | | revenue to fund convention center facilities, multipurpose arenas, |
---|
9 | 9 | | venues, and related infrastructure. |

10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 351.1015, Tax Code, is amended by |
---|
12 | 12 | | amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (j) to read as |
---|
13 | 13 | | follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | (b) This section applies only to a qualified project located |
---|
15 | 15 | | in a municipality with a population of at least 850,000 [650,000] |
---|
16 | 16 | | but less than 950,000 [750,000] according to the most recent |
---|
17 | 17 | | federal decennial census. |
---|
18 | 18 | | (j) Notwithstanding any other law or a term of any ordinance |
---|
19 | 19 | | or agreement adopted or entered into under this section, due to the |
---|
20 | 20 | | effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on hotel-associated revenues, the |
---|
21 | 21 | | date on which a project financing zone designated under this |
---|
22 | 22 | | section expires is automatically extended for two years if the zone |
---|
23 | 23 | | was: |
---|
24 | 24 | | (1) designated by a municipality as a project |
---|
25 | 25 | | financing zone in or before 2019; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | (2) in existence on March 15, 2020. |
---|
27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
