55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the use by certain municipalities of certain tax
88 revenue to fund convention center facilities, multipurpose arenas,
99 venues, and related infrastructure.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 351.1015, Tax Code, is amended by
1212 amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (j) to read as
1313 follows:
1414 (b) This section applies only to a qualified project located
1515 in a municipality with a population of at least 850,000 [650,000]
1616 but less than 950,000 [750,000] according to the most recent
1717 federal decennial census.
1818 (j) Notwithstanding any other law or a term of any ordinance
1919 or agreement adopted or entered into under this section, due to the
2020 effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on hotel-associated revenues, the
2121 date on which a project financing zone designated under this
2222 section expires is automatically extended for two years if the zone
2323 was:
2424 (1) designated by a municipality as a project
2525 financing zone in or before 2019; and
2626 (2) in existence on March 15, 2020.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
