| 8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 541.302(13), Transportation Code, is | |
| 9 | 9 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 10 | 10 | (13) "School crossing zone" means a reduced-speed zone | |
| 11 | 11 | designated on a street by a local authority to facilitate safe | |
| 12 | 12 | crossing of the street by children going to or leaving a public or | |
| 13 | 13 | private elementary or secondary school: | |
| 14 | 14 | (A) on a day that the school is in session; and | |
| 15 | 15 | (B) during the time the reduced speed limit | |
| 16 | 16 | applies. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
