A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the definition of a school crossing zone.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 541.302(13), Transportation Code, is
amended to read as follows:
(13) "School crossing zone" means a reduced-speed zone
designated on a street by a local authority to facilitate safe
crossing of the street by children going to or leaving a public or
private elementary or secondary school:
(A) on a day that the school is in session; and
(B) during the time the reduced speed limit
applies.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
