| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 171, Local Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | by adding Section 171.008 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 171.008. CERTAIN EMPLOYMENT FOR FORMER COUNTY OR |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | MUNICIPAL OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE RESTRICTED. A former county or |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | municipal officer or employee who during the period of county or |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | municipal service or employment participated on behalf of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | county or municipality in a procurement or contract negotiation |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | involving a person may not accept employment from that person |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | before the second anniversary of the date the contract is signed or |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the procurement is terminated or withdrawn. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to a county or municipal officer or employee whose service or |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | employment with a county or municipality ceases on or after the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
