| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 33, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | amended by adding Section 33.02105 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 33.02105. CANDIDATE FOR JUDICIAL OFFICE. The |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | commission may accept complaints, conduct investigations, and take |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | any other action authorized by this chapter or Section 1-a, Article |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | V, Texas Constitution, with respect to a candidate for judicial |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | office who is subject to Subchapter F, Chapter 253, Election Code, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in the same manner the commission is authorized to take those |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | actions with respect to a judge. |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
