A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to temporary motor vehicle tags issued for vehicles sold
by nonprofit organizations.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 503.063(j), Transportation Code, is
amended to read as follows:
(j) A vehicle purchased at a public auction may be issued
and display a buyer's tag without satisfying the inspection
requirements of Chapter 548 if:
(1) the vehicle is [purchased at public auction in
this state and is]:
(A) [(1)] an antique vehicle as defined by
Section 683.077(b); or
(B) [(2)] a special interest vehicle as defined
by Section 683.077(b) that:
(i) [(A)] is at least 12 years of age; and
(ii) [(B)] has been the subject of a retail
sale; or
(2) the seller of the vehicle is a nonprofit
organization.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
