| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 32.091(b), Election Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (b) A judge or clerk may not be paid for more than two hours | |
| 13 | 13 | [one hour] of work before the polls open, except for payment made | |
| 14 | 14 | for work under Section 62.014(c). In a precinct in which voting | |
| 15 | 15 | machines are used, a judge or clerk may not be paid for more than two | |
| 16 | 16 | hours of work after the time for closing the polls or after the last | |
| 17 | 17 | voter has voted, whichever is later. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
