H.C.R. No. 17
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Kenneth B. Nolen is being inducted into the
Petroleum Hall of Fame on April 30, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Established in October 1967, the Petroleum Hall of
Fame recognizes individuals who have made outstanding
contributions to the development of the petroleum industry; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Nolen graduated from Texas A&M University in
1957 with a degree in mechanical engineering; shortly thereafter,
he joined Shell Oil Company as a production engineer, and he worked
there for more than a decade; in 1970, he partnered with Sam G.
Gibbs to form Nabla Corp., and he helped grow the business to design
and diagnose hydraulic and submersible pump systems, as well as
build digital dynamometers, pump-off controls, and fluid level
instruments; Mr. Nolen again joined with Mr. Gibbs in 2014 to found
GreenShot LLC, which specialized in automated well fluid level
technology; in 2018, the company was sold to WellWorx Energy; and
WHEREAS, An expert in his field, Mr. Nolen has eight patents,
and he has written numerous textbooks and technical papers on
artificial lift; and
WHEREAS, Through his hard work and commitment to innovation,
Kenneth Nolen has distinguished himself as a successful and
influential figure in an industry that is such a vital part of the
Texas economy, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious honor;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby congratulate Kenneth B. Nolen on his induction into the
Petroleum Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Nolen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives and Senate.
