| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from St. John's High School |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Seminary in San Antonio, Larry Droll studied at Assumption Seminary |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | and St. John's Seminary in Collegeville, Minnesota; along the way, |

| 12 | 13 | | he earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from St. Mary's |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | University and a master's degree in theology from St. John's |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | University; he was ordained as a deacon in 1972 and as a priest in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 1973; he went on to receive his licentiate in canon law from the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Catholic University of America in 1989; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Among his many honors, he was designated Chaplain to |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | His Holiness and awarded the title of monsignor by Pope John Paul II |

| 19 | 20 | | on November 23, 1989; six years later, he was appointed as a Prelate |

| 20 | 21 | | of Honor, and in 2008, he was elevated to the prestigious title of |

| 21 | 22 | | Protonotary Apostolic; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Monsignor Droll served as a pastor at a number of |

| 23 | 24 | | churches in San Angelo, Ozona, and Wall before taking on his current |

| 24 | 25 | | role as a pastor at St. Ann's Catholic Parish in Midland; his many |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | responsibilities have included his diocesan assignments as a member |

| 26 | 27 | | of the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors, and the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Priest Pension Plan Administrative Board, as well as his tribunal |

| 28 | 29 | | assignment as a collegiate judge; in addition, he distinguished |

| 29 | 30 | | himself through his service as a chancellor and vicar general, and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | he played an instrumental role in establishing a partnership |

| 31 | 32 | | between the Diocese of San Angelo and the Diocese of San Pedro Sula |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his community, Monsignor Droll |

| 34 | 35 | | has served as a chaplain for several Knights of Columbus Councils as |

| 35 | 36 | | well as the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court of |

| 36 | 37 | | St. Catherine of Siena; he has also been involved with the |

| 37 | 38 | | Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Leadership San |

| 38 | 39 | | Angelo, the San Angelo Symphony Chorale, the School Health Advisory |

| 39 | 40 | | Council of the Wall Independent School District, and the board of |

| 40 | 41 | | directors of the Samaritan Counseling Center of West Texas; and |

| 41 | 42 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of the past five decades, Monsignor |

| 42 | 43 | | Larry Droll has wholeheartedly committed his talents and energies |

| 43 | 44 | | to the spiritual enrichment of others, and his strong faith and |

| 44 | 45 | | compassion have benefited countless people; now, therefore, be it |

| 45 | 46 | | RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas |

| 46 | 47 | | hereby congratulate Monsignor Larry J. Droll on the 50th |

| 47 | 48 | | anniversary of his ordination as a priest and extend to him sincere |
