H.C.R. No. 66 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The trustees and staff of the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) are celebrating the organization's 75th anniversary in 2023; and WHEREAS, Since it commenced operations in 1948, TMRS has been a model for public retirement systems nationwide, and today, it is one of the largest in the country and prudently manages $35 billion in trust fund assets on behalf of more than 915 participating Texas cities; and WHEREAS, TMRS currently serves more than 210,000 members, retirees, and beneficiaries, and helps ensure their financial security by providing retirement, disability, and death benefits; the benefit payments made to TMRS members contribute billions of dollars to the Texas economy and its communities; and WHEREAS, Over the past three-quarters of a century, TMRS has helped provide many Texans with peace of mind as they prepare for retirement, and the organization is indeed deserving of special recognition on this important milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate the Texas Municipal Retirement System on its 75th anniversary and extend to all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Texas Municipal Retirement System as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
