 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The women's soccer team from the Dallas College
 Brookhaven Campus continued its tradition of excellence by winning
 the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III
 national championship on November 13, 2022; and
 WHEREAS, With the victory, the Lady Bears closed out a
 memorable year in which they began the season ranked No. 1 and
 compiled an exceptional conference record of nine wins, no losses,
 and a tie; after claiming the Southwest District title against the
 team from the Dallas College Richland Campus, the Lady Bears
 carried their momentum into the national tournament in Herkimer,
 New York; and
 WHEREAS, Competing against the top Division III junior
 college squads in the country, Brookhaven claimed victories over
 Anne Arundel and Genesee Community Colleges to reach the tournament
 finale against Mohawk Valley Community College; after a closely
 contested first half in which the teams traded goals, the Lady Bears
 scored in the 60th minute to take a 2-1 lead; the Brookhaven defense
 held Mohawk Valley in check down the stretch, and when the final
 seconds ticked off the clock, the players hoisted the championship
 trophy in celebration of the program's second consecutive national
 crown and the fourth overall; the team concluded the season with a
 total record of 16 wins, zero losses, and one tie; and
 WHEREAS, Excelling through teamwork, the Lady Bears received
 valuable contributions during the year from each member of the
 roster: Elora Alexander, Hayli Nichols, Cameron Watson, Natalie
 Lopez, Bailey Clark, Megan Anderson, Mashala Williams, Kenya
 Reynolds, Adriana Padilla, Stephanie Farias, Ivelyn Jimenez,
 Meleni Lorenzo, Gissell Solis, Allison Kolba, Whitni Newbill, Isis
 Balderas, Meah Perez, Roselyn Soto, Nyla Zarrag, Kiana Cisneros,
 Nevaeh Higgins, Zoee Webb, Mayra Gutierrez, Heaven Barrera, Sara
 Suggs, Kayannah Moore, Aliyana Obregon, Kaley Robison, and Alexa
 Bezpalko; the players were ably guided by head coach Jimmy Elder and
 assistant coaches Robert Williams, Albert Masters, and Marina
 Galindo; and
 WHEREAS, By winning back-to-back national championships, the
 Dallas College Brookhaven Campus Lady Bears have burnished the
 school's reputation as a powerhouse of the pitch, and this
 achievement will be fondly remembered for many years to come; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Dallas College Brookhaven
 Campus women's soccer team on winning the 2022 NJCAA Division III
 national championship and extend to the players, coaches, and staff
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
