| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The memory of Linda Anne Hoffman of Plano, who |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passed away on July 17, 2022, at the age of 79, is being honored at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the Carrollton Women's Club Spring Luncheon on April 13, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The youngest child of John and Pauline O'Grady, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Linda Hoffman was born in Billings, Oklahoma, on July 19, 1942, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | she grew up with the companionship of six siblings, Margaret, Pat, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Olivia, Eddie, Bert, and Gerald; she went on to marry the love of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | her life, Leon Hoffman, and together they made their home in such |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | cities as Dallas, Houston, and Austin, before settling in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Carrollton, where they spent more than three decades; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Hoffman enjoyed a rewarding career working as a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | secretary in various school districts throughout the State of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texas, and she eventually retired from the Dallas College |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Brookhaven Campus; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, An engaged citizen, Mrs. Hoffman was a longtime |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | member of the Carrollton Women's Club, a service-oriented |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | organization that benefits the community by raising money for local |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | charities and for scholarships for area high school girls; over the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | course of her 24-year membership with the club, she served in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | numerous leadership roles, including as president, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | parliamentarian, recording secretary, and corresponding secretary; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | several years before her passing, she became a resident of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Conservatory At Plano, where she served as an ambassador and on the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | resident council; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, This beloved woman was a devoted mother to her two |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | children, Gary and Sheri, and through the years, she had the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | pleasure of welcoming into her family four grandchildren, Ryan, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Alyssa, Jacob, and Maggie, as well as a great-granddaughter, Hazel; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | in her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, quilting, solving |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | crossword puzzles, and playing games with her grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family and her community, |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Linda Hoffman made a meaningful difference in the lives of her loved |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | ones and fellow citizens alike, and her contributions will be |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | fondly remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Linda Anne Hoffman and |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | honor her longtime service to the Carrollton Women's Club; and, be |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | it further |

| 43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
