 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Shelley Jeoffroy of Otis Brown Elementary School in
 the Irving Independent School District has been chosen as the 2023
 Texas Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association of School
 Administrators; and
 WHEREAS, Prior to receiving this distinction, Mrs. Jeoffroy
 was first selected as a teacher of the year at the campus, district,
 and regional levels, and she went on to be named one of the six
 finalists for a state award; she was then recognized as the Texas
 Elementary Teacher of the Year as well as the Texas Teacher of the
 Year, and she will represent the state in the National Teacher of
 the Year competition; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jeoffroy has enjoyed a rewarding career in
 education that has spanned 17 years, including 15 years with Irving
 ISD; over the course of her tenure, she has taught many subjects and
 held numerous roles, including science curriculum and district
 assessment writer, team lead for the fourth and fifth grades,
 vertical team lead for math, member of the Gifted and Talented
 Building Committee, and coach for the Destination Imagination
 program; currently, she serves as a fifth grade math teacher at Otis
 Brown Elementary; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to her work in the classroom,
 Mrs. Jeoffroy has been involved with the Science Teachers
 Association of Texas and the National Science Foundation, and she
 has participated in the Phil Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy;
 she has also taught students in Kenya, Peru, Mexico, and Morocco;
 she holds bachelor's degrees in English and biology as well as
 education credentials from The University of Texas at Arlington;
 and
 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Jeoffroy benefits from
 the love and support of her husband, Jamal Moujahid; during her
 leisure time, she enjoys traveling with family; and
 WHEREAS, Shelley Jeoffroy exemplifies the passion,
 determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
 best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
 in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Shelley Jeoffroy on being named the
 2023 Texas Teacher of the Year and extend to her sincere best wishes
 for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Jeoffroy as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
