44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close
66 with the passing of Gerald Lee Roseberg on January 7, 2023, at the
77 age of 82; and
88 WHEREAS, The only child of Leonard and Lucille Roseberg,
99 Garry Roseberg was born in McPherson, Kansas, on April 7, 1940; he
1010 grew up on the family farm, attended a one-room school, and sang in
1111 the choir at New Gottland Lutheran Church, where he formed many
1212 enduring friendships; as a high school student in McPherson, he met
1313 the love of his life, the former Judy Scott, and after numerous
1414 dates at the A&W, they married in 1961; the couple were blessed with
1515 two daughters, Karla and Kristi; and
1616 WHEREAS, Mr. Roseberg worked as a cast iron welder, and in
1717 the mid-1960s, he was transferred to Greenville, Mississippi; after
1818 four years, the family moved to Corpus Christi, where Mr. Roseberg
1919 was employed at Coastal States Refinery; he found great
2020 satisfaction in his career and went on to serve as a shift
2121 supervisor at Valero until his retirement in 2006; along the way, he
2222 developed a sideline mowing lawns, just as his parents had in their
2323 later years; and
2424 WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Mr. Roseberg served Calallen
2525 Baptist Church as a deacon and member of the building and grounds
2626 committee; he maintained the church lawn, volunteered whenever
2727 needed, and regularly attended Sunday school and the men's Bible
2828 study; in addition, he enjoyed singing with the choir; he was also a
2929 32nd degree Mason and member of Masonic Lodge No. 189 in Corpus
3030 Christi; in his leisure hours, he liked baking pumpkin pies,
3131 playing with his Dachshunds, and helping out family and friends; he
3232 took pride in his Swedish heritage and savored the traditional
3333 dessert, ostakaka; above all, he treasured spending time with his
3434 loved ones and relished his role as "G-pa" to four grandchildren and
3535 four great-grandchildren, the beneficiaries of numerous bear hugs;
3636 and
3737 WHEREAS, Although Garry Roseberg is deeply missed by those he
3838 left behind, they will cherish their memories of his warmth,
3939 kindness, and devotion, and he will forever hold a special place in
4040 their hearts; now, therefore, be it
4141 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4242 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gerald Lee Roseberg
4343 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
4444 wife, Judy Roseberg; to his daughters, Karla Harris and her
4545 husband, Charlie, and Kristi Skrobarczyk and her husband, Joe; to
4646 his grandchildren, Eddie Joe, Ryan, Gabe, and Dee; to his
4747 great-grandchildren, Emma, Sadie, Connor, and Maggie; and to his
4848 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4949 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5050 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5151 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Garry
5252 Roseberg.
