5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |
---|
6 | 6 | | with the passing of Gerald Lee Roseberg on January 7, 2023, at the |
---|
7 | 7 | | age of 82; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The only child of Leonard and Lucille Roseberg, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Garry Roseberg was born in McPherson, Kansas, on April 7, 1940; he |
---|
10 | 10 | | grew up on the family farm, attended a one-room school, and sang in |
---|
11 | 11 | | the choir at New Gottland Lutheran Church, where he formed many |
---|
12 | 12 | | enduring friendships; as a high school student in McPherson, he met |
---|
13 | 13 | | the love of his life, the former Judy Scott, and after numerous |
---|
14 | 14 | | dates at the A&W, they married in 1961; the couple were blessed with |
---|
15 | 15 | | two daughters, Karla and Kristi; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Roseberg worked as a cast iron welder, and in |
---|
17 | 17 | | the mid-1960s, he was transferred to Greenville, Mississippi; after |
---|
18 | 18 | | four years, the family moved to Corpus Christi, where Mr. Roseberg |
---|
19 | 19 | | was employed at Coastal States Refinery; he found great |
---|
20 | 20 | | satisfaction in his career and went on to serve as a shift |
---|
21 | 21 | | supervisor at Valero until his retirement in 2006; along the way, he |
---|
22 | 22 | | developed a sideline mowing lawns, just as his parents had in their |
---|
23 | 23 | | later years; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Mr. Roseberg served Calallen |
---|
25 | 25 | | Baptist Church as a deacon and member of the building and grounds |
---|
26 | 26 | | committee; he maintained the church lawn, volunteered whenever |
---|
27 | 27 | | needed, and regularly attended Sunday school and the men's Bible |
---|
28 | 28 | | study; in addition, he enjoyed singing with the choir; he was also a |
---|
29 | 29 | | 32nd degree Mason and member of Masonic Lodge No. 189 in Corpus |
---|
30 | 30 | | Christi; in his leisure hours, he liked baking pumpkin pies, |
---|
31 | 31 | | playing with his Dachshunds, and helping out family and friends; he |
---|
32 | 32 | | took pride in his Swedish heritage and savored the traditional |
---|
33 | 33 | | dessert, ostakaka; above all, he treasured spending time with his |
---|
34 | 34 | | loved ones and relished his role as "G-pa" to four grandchildren and |
---|
35 | 35 | | four great-grandchildren, the beneficiaries of numerous bear hugs; |
---|
36 | 36 | | and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Although Garry Roseberg is deeply missed by those he |
---|
38 | 38 | | left behind, they will cherish their memories of his warmth, |
---|
39 | 39 | | kindness, and devotion, and he will forever hold a special place in |
---|
40 | 40 | | their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
42 | 42 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gerald Lee Roseberg |
---|
43 | 43 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
---|
44 | 44 | | wife, Judy Roseberg; to his daughters, Karla Harris and her |
---|
45 | 45 | | husband, Charlie, and Kristi Skrobarczyk and her husband, Joe; to |
---|
46 | 46 | | his grandchildren, Eddie Joe, Ryan, Gabe, and Dee; to his |
---|
47 | 47 | | great-grandchildren, Emma, Sadie, Connor, and Maggie; and to his |

48 | 48 | | other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

49 | 49 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
