| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A caring and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Betty Lou Pendergraft Angelo on February 5, 2023, at the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | age of 87; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The only child of Clifford and Betty Pendergraft, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | "Penny" Angelo was born on September 2, 1935, in Galveston; a member |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of the Class of 1953 at Lamar High School in Houston, she continued |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | her education at The University of Texas at Austin, and following |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | her graduation in 1957, she began teaching eighth-grade physical |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | education and science in Odessa; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, On December 27, 1958, she married the love of her |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | life, Ernest Angelo Jr., and the happy couple moved to Midland, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | where they raised two daughters, Helen and Patricia, and two sons, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Ernest and Cliff; Mrs. Angelo devoted herself to supporting her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | children in all of their activities, and later in life, she |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | delighted in becoming "Gren" to her eight grandchildren, Betsy, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Kimberly, Molly, Maggie, Connor, Murphy, Colin, and Peyton; with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the passing years, she was further blessed with two |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | great-grandchildren, Ellianna and Alfred; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In addition to caring for her family, Mrs. Angelo |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | took an active role in her community, serving on the Texas Medical |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Board and becoming a founding member of the Wagner Noël Performing |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Arts Center; moreover, she was involved in the Midland County |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Republican Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Junior League, and Gamma Phi Beta, among other organizations, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | she was a valued congregant at St. Ann's Catholic Church; she was a |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | woman of many talents, equally skilled at cooking, needlepoint, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | quilting; during the summers, she could often be found on the Taylor |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | River in Colorado with her loved ones or hosting "Granny Camp" for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | her grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family, her faith, and her |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | community, Penny Angelo earned the lasting respect and admiration |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | of all who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Betty Lou Pendergraft |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Angelo and extend sincere condolences to her relatives and friends; |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | and, be it further |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Penny |
