| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist |

| 6 | 6 | | Church in Houston are joining together on April 23, 2023, to honor |

| 7 | 7 | | First Lady Linda Smith for 31 years of dedicated service to that |

| 8 | 8 | | congregation; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The devoted wife of Pastor David Smith, Lady Smith |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | plays an instrumental role in their church community by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | coordinating workshops, meal distribution, and financial literacy |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | seminars; she has also served as a caring mentor to young women |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | seeking spiritual guidance; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A native of Smithfield, Virginia, Lady Smith had a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | notable career with the Federal Reserve Bank that spanned four |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | decades; she takes great pride in her daughters, Tamara, Crystal, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and Jessica, as well as in her grandchildren, Jayla, Tamia, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Chandler, and King; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The tireless efforts of Lady Smith continue to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | inspire the deep appreciation and affection of her congregation, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and it is a pleasure to join in honoring her on this special |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby commend Linda Smith for her outstanding 31-year |
