R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist
Church in Houston are joining together on April 23, 2023, to honor
First Lady Linda Smith for 31 years of dedicated service to that
congregation; and
WHEREAS, The devoted wife of Pastor David Smith, Lady Smith
plays an instrumental role in their church community by
coordinating workshops, meal distribution, and financial literacy
seminars; she has also served as a caring mentor to young women
seeking spiritual guidance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Smithfield, Virginia, Lady Smith had a
notable career with the Federal Reserve Bank that spanned four
decades; she takes great pride in her daughters, Tamara, Crystal,
and Jessica, as well as in her grandchildren, Jayla, Tamia,
Chandler, and King; and
WHEREAS, The tireless efforts of Lady Smith continue to
inspire the deep appreciation and affection of her congregation,
and it is a pleasure to join in honoring her on this special
occasion; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Linda Smith for her outstanding 31-year
tenure as first lady of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her
important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Lady Linda Smith as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
