5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

6 | 6 | | a close with the passing of Mary Patricia Puig Mueller of Corpus |

7 | 7 | | Christi on April 2, 2023, at the age of 91; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. Valentine Lawrence Puig and |
---|
9 | 9 | | Louise Payne Puig, the former Patty Puig was born in Laredo on |
---|
10 | 10 | | December 10, 1931; after graduating from The University of Texas at |
---|
11 | 11 | | Austin with a degree in education and a minor in business, she moved |
---|
12 | 12 | | to Corpus Christi, where she began working as an elementary school |
---|
13 | 13 | | teacher and met her future husband, Joe Mueller, with whom she |
---|
14 | 14 | | shared 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2016; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Mueller held |
---|
16 | 16 | | leadership positions in the Coastal Bend Community Foundation, the |
---|
17 | 17 | | Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Gulf Coast Council of the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Boy Scouts of America, and the Nueces River Authority; she also |
---|
19 | 19 | | dedicated herself to the Corpus Christi Public Library Foundation |
---|
20 | 20 | | Board and helped raise funds for a new public library in Corpus |
---|
21 | 21 | | Christi; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Mueller strongly believed that "no one can take |
---|
23 | 23 | | your education away from you," and she and her husband gave |
---|
24 | 24 | | generously of their time and resources to scholarship funds across |
---|
25 | 25 | | Texas; moreover, she served on a number of university councils and |
---|
26 | 26 | | boards, including The University of Texas at Austin's Development |
---|
27 | 27 | | Board and the Texas A&M University Vision 2020 Advisory Council; |
---|
28 | 28 | | and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, the passage of |
---|
30 | 30 | | time will never diminish the joy and love that Patty Puig Mueller |
---|
31 | 31 | | brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it |

32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Patricia Puig |

34 | 34 | | Mueller and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her |

35 | 35 | | family: to her children, Michelle Mueller, Martha |

36 | 36 | | Mueller-Guicciardini and her husband, Federico, Mary Pat "M. P." |
