H.R. No. 1155 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to a close with the passing of Mary Patricia Puig Mueller of Corpus Christi on April 2, 2023, at the age of 91; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. Valentine Lawrence Puig and Louise Payne Puig, the former Patty Puig was born in Laredo on December 10, 1931; after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in education and a minor in business, she moved to Corpus Christi, where she began working as an elementary school teacher and met her future husband, Joe Mueller, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2016; and WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Mueller held leadership positions in the Coastal Bend Community Foundation, the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Gulf Coast Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Nueces River Authority; she also dedicated herself to the Corpus Christi Public Library Foundation Board and helped raise funds for a new public library in Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Mueller strongly believed that "no one can take your education away from you," and she and her husband gave generously of their time and resources to scholarship funds across Texas; moreover, she served on a number of university councils and boards, including The University of Texas at Austin's Development Board and the Texas A&M University Vision 2020 Advisory Council; and WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, the passage of time will never diminish the joy and love that Patty Puig Mueller brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Patricia Puig Mueller and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her children, Michelle Mueller, Martha Mueller-Guicciardini and her husband, Federico, Mary Pat "M. P." Mueller, Paul Mueller and his wife, Beth, and Julianna Clardy and her husband, Mike; to her sister, Sara Puig Laas; to her brother, Dick Puig, and his wife, Ingrid; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patty Puig Mueller.
