5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort |

6 | 6 | | those saddened by the death of Joe Michael Crow on November 4, 2022, |
---|
7 | 7 | | at the age of 76; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Carl Jesse Crow and Mattie Mae Brown Crow, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Joe Crow was born in Waco on September 22, 1946, and he grew up with |
---|
10 | 10 | | the companionship of three siblings, Nola Ann, Carl, and Marvin; he |
---|
11 | 11 | | attended Waco High School, where he excelled in football and track, |
---|
12 | 12 | | and he went on to earn a degree from Southwest Texas State College; |
---|
13 | 13 | | answering his nation's call to duty, he joined the United States |
---|
14 | 14 | | Navy and served for four years before receiving his honorable |
---|
15 | 15 | | discharge in 1974; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Crow worked for |
---|
17 | 17 | | Electronic Data Systems in Dallas before becoming a manager at the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Briggs-Weaver industrial supply company in Houston; in 1984, he |
---|
19 | 19 | | relocated to Austin and began a new chapter of his career at |
---|
20 | 20 | | Motorola; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Crow benefited from the |
---|
22 | 22 | | love and support of his wife, Pat, with whom he shared a fulfilling |
---|
23 | 23 | | union that spanned 51 years; he was a devoted father to his son, |
---|
24 | 24 | | Chad, and he delighted in time spent with his grandson, Francis; a |
---|
25 | 25 | | fearless do-it-yourselfer, he undertook such projects as |
---|
26 | 26 | | rebuilding a 1957 Chevrolet with Chad and working with Pat to |
---|
27 | 27 | | construct a large earthen berm to protect their home from flooding; |
---|
28 | 28 | | in one of the more adventurous episodes from his senior years, he |
---|
29 | 29 | | went skydiving with his daughter-in-law, Kori, an experience that |
---|
30 | 30 | | allowed him to emulate his father, a World War II paratrooper; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Although he is deeply missed, Joe Crow leaves behind |
---|
32 | 32 | | numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far richer for |
---|
33 | 33 | | having known him, and he will always hold a treasured place in their |
---|
34 | 34 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Joe Michael Crow and |
---|
37 | 37 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
---|
38 | 38 | | further |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

40 | 40 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |

41 | 41 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Crow. |
