H.R. No. 1169 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort those saddened by the death of Joe Michael Crow on November 4, 2022, at the age of 76; and WHEREAS, The son of Carl Jesse Crow and Mattie Mae Brown Crow, Joe Crow was born in Waco on September 22, 1946, and he grew up with the companionship of three siblings, Nola Ann, Carl, and Marvin; he attended Waco High School, where he excelled in football and track, and he went on to earn a degree from Southwest Texas State College; answering his nation's call to duty, he joined the United States Navy and served for four years before receiving his honorable discharge in 1974; and WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Crow worked for Electronic Data Systems in Dallas before becoming a manager at the Briggs-Weaver industrial supply company in Houston; in 1984, he relocated to Austin and began a new chapter of his career at Motorola; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Crow benefited from the love and support of his wife, Pat, with whom he shared a fulfilling union that spanned 51 years; he was a devoted father to his son, Chad, and he delighted in time spent with his grandson, Francis; a fearless do-it-yourselfer, he undertook such projects as rebuilding a 1957 Chevrolet with Chad and working with Pat to construct a large earthen berm to protect their home from flooding; in one of the more adventurous episodes from his senior years, he went skydiving with his daughter-in-law, Kori, an experience that allowed him to emulate his father, a World War II paratrooper; and WHEREAS, Although he is deeply missed, Joe Crow leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Joe Michael Crow and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Crow.
