| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The McAllen Independent School District received |

| 6 | 6 | | the Golden Apple Award from United Way of South Texas on March 2, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2023; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Serving Hidalgo and Starr Counties, United Way of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | South Texas invests in initiatives that address critical areas such |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | as health, education, financial stability, and safety net services, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | funding more than 100 programs through 22 partner agencies and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | numerous community impact grant recipients; each year at its awards |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | ceremony, the organization recognizes local schools, school |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | districts, businesses, and volunteers for their generosity and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | commitment to the South Texas community; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, For the fifth straight year, McAllen ISD was honored |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | with the Golden Apple Award as the top-contributing school district |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of the 17 districts that donate to United Way of South Texas; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Gonzalez Elementary School earned the award for highest per capita |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | campus for the fourth time, and the district's administration |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | office won the award for highest per capita school department; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through their admirable efforts, the faculty and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | staff of McAllen ISD have made a meaningful difference in their |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | community, and it is truly a pleasure to honor their noteworthy |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the McAllen Independent School |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | District on receiving the Golden Apple Award from United Way of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | South Texas and extend to all those associated with the district |
|---|
