| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Andrew Trevino of McAllen High School has achieved |

| 6 | 6 | | great distinction with his selection to the Texas Music Educators |

| 7 | 7 | | Association 2023 All-State Mariachi Ensemble; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The highest honor a Texas music student can receive, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the All-State designation is awarded each year to 1,830 youth who |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | advance through competitions to earn spots in 18 ensembles |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | sponsored by the Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Divisions; All-State |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | students participate in three days of concert rehearsals at the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | annual state TMEA Clinic/Convention; the 2023 TMEA concert |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | performances took place on February 11 at the Henry B. González |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Convention Center in San Antonio; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A violinist for the McAllen High Mariachi Oro, Mr. |

| 17 | 17 | | Trevino was named to the All-State Mariachi Ensemble for the second |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | consecutive year; the McAllen group is ably led by instructor Alex |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Trevino and has collected seven state championships over the past |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | eight years; moreover, in 2023, the McAllen Independent School |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | District was again included on the list of Best Communities for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Foundation; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This talented young musician has proudly |

| 25 | 25 | | represented McAllen High, and he is a source of great pride for his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | fellow students and his many supporters in the community; now, |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Andrew Trevino on his selection to |
