 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Andrew Trevino of McAllen High School has achieved
 great distinction with his selection to the Texas Music Educators
 Association 2023 All-State Mariachi Ensemble; and
 WHEREAS, The highest honor a Texas music student can receive,
 the All-State designation is awarded each year to 1,830 youth who
 advance through competitions to earn spots in 18 ensembles
 sponsored by the Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Divisions; All-State
 students participate in three days of concert rehearsals at the
 annual state TMEA Clinic/Convention; the 2023 TMEA concert
 performances took place on February 11 at the Henry B. González
 Convention Center in San Antonio; and
 WHEREAS, A violinist for the McAllen High Mariachi Oro, Mr.
 Trevino was named to the All-State Mariachi Ensemble for the second
 consecutive year; the McAllen group is ably led by instructor Alex
 Trevino and has collected seven state championships over the past
 eight years; moreover, in 2023, the McAllen Independent School
 District was again included on the list of Best Communities for
 Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants
 Foundation; and
 WHEREAS, This talented young musician has proudly
 represented McAllen High, and he is a source of great pride for his
 fellow students and his many supporters in the community; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Andrew Trevino on his selection to
 the 2023 TMEA All-State Mariachi Ensemble and extend to him sincere
 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Trevino as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
