| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Las Ramblas in Brownsville has been selected as a |

| 6 | 6 | | finalist for a 2023 James Beard Award in the Outstanding Bar |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Nominees for the award are evaluated on the basis of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | consistent excellence in atmosphere, hospitality, operations, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the preparation or curation of drinks, along with positive |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | contributions to the broader community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Las Ramblas was founded in 2019 by brothers Michael |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and Fabian Limas, a financial advisor and attorney by profession, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | respectively; inspired by a trip to Spain, they named their |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | cocktail lounge after La Rambla, the famous street in Barcelona; it |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | features an extensive drinks menu by Chris Galicia, junior partner |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and cocktail and spirits director; he also hosts "The Liquid Lab," |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | an interactive cocktail-making activity that teaches the history |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and proper use of spirits; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Located on Market Square, Las Ramblas has played a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | role in the dramatic revitalization of the area; the décor |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | showcases local as well as Spanish artists, and the bar has hosted |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | cocktail competitions to benefit nonprofit organizations; the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Limas brothers have further enhanced downtown Brownsville through |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | ownership of a wine and tapas eatery, Boqueron, next door to Las |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Ramblas; their accomplishments were highlighted in a recent Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Highways article; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Lively restaurant scenes are a boon to the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | prosperity of Texas communities, and the national attention that |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Las Ramblas has attracted will help to raise awareness of |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Brownsville's increasingly vibrant nightlife; now, therefore, be |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
