| 6 | 6 | | Sanstha (BAPS) is hosting the Celebration of Selfless Service Day |

| 7 | 7 | | event at the historic Texas State Capitol on May 10, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, BAPS is an international spiritual organization |

| 9 | 9 | | dedicated to peace and harmony; the group strives to care for the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | world by caring for societies, families, and individuals, and it |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | operates BAPS Charities, a nonprofit that promotes community |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | service; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, BAPS is a prominent Hindu organization in Texas with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | places of worship in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus |

| 15 | 15 | | Christi, Lubbock, League City, and Beaumont; its members serve |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | their communities under the guidance and example of the group's |

| 17 | 17 | | spiritual leader, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, and through |

| 18 | 18 | | the wisdom of his predecessor, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, |

| 19 | 19 | | who often said, "In the joy of others, lies our own"; and |

| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Celebration of Selfless Service in Texas |

| 21 | 21 | | recognizes the myriad spiritual, socioeconomic, and cultural |

| 22 | 22 | | contributions that BAPS and the wider Indian American community |

| 23 | 23 | | have made to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commend BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and His |

| 26 | 26 | | Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj on the organization's commitment to |

| 27 | 27 | | selfless service in communities across Texas and the nation and |

| 28 | 28 | | extend to all those associated with the group sincere appreciation |
