55 WHEREAS, The Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan
66 Sanstha (BAPS) is hosting the Celebration of Selfless Service Day
77 event at the historic Texas State Capitol on May 10, 2023; and
88 WHEREAS, BAPS is an international spiritual organization
99 dedicated to peace and harmony; the group strives to care for the
1010 world by caring for societies, families, and individuals, and it
1111 operates BAPS Charities, a nonprofit that promotes community
1212 service; and
1313 WHEREAS, BAPS is a prominent Hindu organization in Texas with
1414 places of worship in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus
1515 Christi, Lubbock, League City, and Beaumont; its members serve
1616 their communities under the guidance and example of the group's
1717 spiritual leader, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, and through
1818 the wisdom of his predecessor, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj,
1919 who often said, "In the joy of others, lies our own"; and
2020 WHEREAS, The Celebration of Selfless Service in Texas
2121 recognizes the myriad spiritual, socioeconomic, and cultural
2222 contributions that BAPS and the wider Indian American community
2323 have made to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature hereby commend BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and His
2626 Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj on the organization's commitment to
2727 selfless service in communities across Texas and the nation and
2828 extend to all those associated with the group sincere appreciation
2929 for their important work; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for BAPS as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
3232 of Representatives.
