5	5	WHEREAS, United States Representative Monica De La Cruz
6	6	introduced a bipartisan bill, H.R. 412, on January 20, 2023, to
7	7	designate the U.S. Post Office at 620 East Pecan Boulevard in
8	8	McAllen as the Agent Raul H. Gonzalez Jr. Memorial Post Office; and
9	9	WHEREAS, On December 7, 2022, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Raul
10	10	H. Gonzalez of Edinburg was engaged in a high-speed chase when his
11	11	ATV crashed; he was transported to a hospital but died of his
12	12	injuries that day, at the age of 38, leaving two children, Sebastian
13	13	and Camila Gonzalez, and a large extended family, as well as
14	14	numerous bereaved colleagues; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Agent Gonzalez was a graduate of Economedes High
16	16	School in Edinburg and the Border Patrol Academy; deeply patriotic,
17	17	he demonstrated great dedication over the course of a career that
18	18	spanned more than a decade with U.S. Customs and Border Protection,
19	19	which is within the Department of Homeland Security; he was
20	20	assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector McAllen Station; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Committed to the important mission of the U.S.
22	22	Border Patrol, Agent Gonzalez lost his life in the line of duty, and
23	23	it would be most fitting to recognize his exemplary service and
24	24	supreme sacrifice by naming the post office in McAllen in his honor;
25	25	now, therefore, be it
26	26	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
27	27	Legislature hereby respectfully urge the United States Congress to
28	28	pass H.R. 412, designating the U.S. Post Office at 620 East Pecan
29	29	Boulevard in McAllen as the Agent Raul H. Gonzalez Jr. Memorial Post
30	30	Office; and, be it further
31	31	RESOLVED, That the chief clerk of the Texas House of
32	32	Representatives forward official copies of this resolution to the
33	33	president of the United States, to the speaker of the House of
34	34	Representatives and the president of the Senate of the United
35	35	States Congress, and to all the members of the Texas delegation to
36	36	Congress with the request that this resolution be officially
37	37	entered in the Congressional Record as a memorial to the Congress of
38	38	the United States of America.
