H.R. No. 1356
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Community Impact, a news organization that serves
the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area and other communities across
Texas, has been named the 2023 Outstanding Small Business of the
Year by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the McKinney Chamber of Commerce
recognizes a small business that has made long-term contributions
to the local economy and has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to
serving the wider community; and
WHEREAS, Owners John and Jennifer Garrett launched the first
edition of Community Impact in 2005, and the publication originally
covered the cities of Round Rock and Pflugerville; over the years,
the organization has grown to distribute news and information to
communities across the state, and its many services include daily
online updates and monthly direct-mail publications; its reporters
attend city council and school board meetings and inform readers on
the latest developments in business, transportation, education,
health care, and other topics of local interest; and
WHEREAS, Community Impact has served as a vital resource to
McKinney residents, and the publication's owners and staff are
indeed deserving of special recognition for this notable honor;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Community Impact on being named the
2023 Outstanding Small Business of the Year by the McKinney Chamber
of Commerce and extend to all those associated with the
organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Community Impact as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
