H.R. No. 1362 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Prosper Independent School District bass fishing team achieved great distinction by winning the Texas High School Bass Association North Texas Division Team of the Year title following their outstanding performance in the 2022-2023 regular season; and WHEREAS, Composed of students from Prosper, Rock Hill, and McKinney Boyd High Schools, the Prosper ISD team competed in several tournaments during the year, including competitions at Lake Texoma, Lake Lewisville, Ray Roberts Lake, and Lake Ray Hubbard; triumphing over more than 40 other North Texas high school squads, the Prosper anglers compiled 491 points, besting the second-place team by eight points to claim the title; and WHEREAS, Six of Prosper's two-person teams finished among the top 30 in the North Texas Division as a result of their regular season success; Ethan Mau and Mason Prather captured sixth place, Garrett Ryan and Graham Ryan placed 11th, and the duo of Bradley Simpson and Patrick Layhee captured 15th; moreover, Connor Boatright and Nicholas Jarrett finished in 17th place, Jackson Robbe and Gunnar Phillips clinched 19th, and Brennan Trotter and Gage Elliott secured 29th; and WHEREAS, The Prosper team also received vital contributions from four other pairs of anglers who qualified for the regional finals: Jude Driskell and Sam Jones, Jack Demeterio and Ben Barstad, Ben Hurbough and Colton Hurbough, and Cole Watney and Cohen Newsholme; and WHEREAS, At the regional tournament at Ray Roberts Lake on April 15, the Prosper anglers continued to excel, finishing 10th out of 90 high schools; the team will look to build on that fine showing at the state championship at Sam Rayburn Reservoir on May 20 and 21; and WHEREAS, These accomplished anglers have demonstrated great skill and determination, and they are indeed deserving of special recognition for their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Prosper ISD bass fishing team on winning the THSBA North Texas Division Team of the Year title for the 2022-2023 regular season and extend to the team members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
