 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
 of David Leos, who passed away on September 2, 2021, at the age of
 62; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Faustino and Maria Leos, David Leos was
 born in Dallas on July 15, 1959; he was raised in Mesquite, and he
 grew up with the companionship of seven siblings; following his
 graduation from Bishop Lynch High School in 1977, he continued his
 education at The University of Texas at Arlington; and
 WHEREAS, In 1981, Mr. Leos embarked on a four-decade career
 with the Dallas Fire-Rescue department, and he distinguished
 himself as one of the city's longest-serving Latino firefighters;
 he served on the front lines as a paramedic for 13 years, and along
 the way, he endeared himself to others in the department through his
 work as a driver engineer and cook; he earned a reputation for his
 easygoing demeanor and his ability to accomplish just about any
 task, and his colleagues collected many "Super Dave" stories
 through the years; and
 WHEREAS, David Leos contracted COVID-19 while performing EMS
 duties, and he eventually succumbed to complications from the
 disease; he was the first active duty firefighter in Dallas to die
 from COVID-19 and was laid to rest with full honors from Dallas
 Fire-Rescue; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Leos and his wife, Darlene, shared a rewarding
 marriage, and he was the proud father of two sons, David and Joseph,
 and six daughters, Tiffany, Karyn, Sarah, Helena, Liana, and
 Lauren; with the passing years, he experienced the joy of welcoming
 six grandchildren into his treasured family; he and his wife loved
 traveling, dancing, and participating in Zumba classes together,
 and he also enjoyed writing songs, playing the guitar, hunting, and
 fishing; known for his skills at the barbecue grill, he began
 entering competitions with Papa Leos BBQ, featuring his own secret
 sauce; moreover, he was a valued congregant of Lakepointe Church,
 and he turned to his faith for guidance in his life, particularly
 after fighting a difficult battle with leukemia; and
 WHEREAS, Although David Leos is deeply missed, memories of
 his faith, his strength, and his devotion to his family remain to
 comfort and inspire those he has left behind; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of David Leos and extend
 heartfelt condolences to his relatives and many friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of David Leos.
