| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Padre Island National Seashore has been named one of |

| 6 | 6 | | the top beaches in the United States by the British newspaper The |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Independent; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Located on Padre Island between Port Aransas and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | South Padre Island, Padre Island National Seashore is a national |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | park that features 66 miles of undeveloped coastal prairie land, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | including Laguna Madre, a rare hypersaline lagoon; the park is home |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | to more than 350 different species, and nearly half of all North |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | American migratory bird species pass through the park at different |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | times of the year; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Visitors to Padre Island National Seashore can enjoy |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a variety of recreational activities, such as boating, fishing, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | windsurfing, and camping, and several times each summer, the public |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | can view sea turtle hatchlings as they are released into the ocean; |
|---|

|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A major ecotourism attraction for Corpus Christi, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Padre Island National Seashore was previously recognized as one of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | "Five Idyllic Ecotourism Destinations Across the Southern U.S." by |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Forbes magazine in 2022; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, With its natural beauty and abundant wildlife, this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | unique ecosystem is one of the treasures of the Texas Coast, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Padre Island National Seashore is a source of great pride for all |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby recognize Padre Island National Seashore on |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | being named one of the top beaches in the United States by The |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Independent; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
