| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Juan Miguel Arredondo has greatly benefited his |

| 6 | 6 | | community through his outstanding service as a member of the San |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Arredondo has represented District One on the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | school board since May 2015, and he is one of the first LGBTQ |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | elected officials in Hays County; over the course of his tenure on |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the board, he has played an instrumental role in securing higher |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | wages for full-time school employees, improving benefits for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | teachers, and implementing free breakfast and lunch programs for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | all students; he has also worked tirelessly to ensure that the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | district's schools foster learning environments in which students |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | can excel academically; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A native of San Marcos, Mr. Arredondo has further |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | distinguished himself through his involvement with United Way of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Hays and Caldwell Counties as well as Centro Cultural Hispano de San |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Marcos; in addition, he serves as chief of staff in the office of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | State Representative Erin Zwiener, and he has demonstrated an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | outstanding commitment to supporting constituents and calling |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | attention to the needs of his fellow Texans; he holds a bachelor's |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | degree in public administration from Texas State University; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Miguel Arredondo's dedication and visionary |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | leadership have made him a valued member of the San Marcos CISD |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | school board, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | significant contributions to his community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commend Juan Miguel Arredondo for his service to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the San Marcos CISD Board of Trustees and extend to him sincere best |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
