H.R. No. 1707 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Juan Miguel Arredondo has greatly benefited his community through his outstanding service as a member of the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees; and WHEREAS, Mr. Arredondo has represented District One on the school board since May 2015, and he is one of the first LGBTQ elected officials in Hays County; over the course of his tenure on the board, he has played an instrumental role in securing higher wages for full-time school employees, improving benefits for teachers, and implementing free breakfast and lunch programs for all students; he has also worked tirelessly to ensure that the district's schools foster learning environments in which students can excel academically; and WHEREAS, A native of San Marcos, Mr. Arredondo has further distinguished himself through his involvement with United Way of Hays and Caldwell Counties as well as Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos; in addition, he serves as chief of staff in the office of State Representative Erin Zwiener, and he has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to supporting constituents and calling attention to the needs of his fellow Texans; he holds a bachelor's degree in public administration from Texas State University; and WHEREAS, Miguel Arredondo's dedication and visionary leadership have made him a valued member of the San Marcos CISD school board, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his significant contributions to his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby commend Juan Miguel Arredondo for his service to the San Marcos CISD Board of Trustees and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Arredondo as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
