| 8 | 8 | | Tennis State Tournament; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school players in Texas |

| 10 | 10 | | on April 25 and 26 in San Antonio, Ms. Shen delivered an exceptional |

| 11 | 11 | | performance; after a straight-sets quarterfinals decision over |

| 12 | 12 | | Ahona Chowdhury from The Woodlands High School, she prevailed in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the semifinals against Chloe Zhang from Westlake High School in a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | another two-set contest, 6-3, 7-6(4); and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In the 6A state championship match, Ms. Shen took |

| 16 | 16 | | the court against Ananya Sriniketh of Katy Tompkins High School; |

| 17 | 17 | | demonstrating an unwavering resolve, she triumphed 6-1, 6-2 to |

| 18 | 18 | | claim the coveted state title; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, With the victory, Ms. Shen became the first student |

| 20 | 20 | | from the Houston Independent School District to win a tennis state |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | crown since 1990; a freshman at DeBakey High School for Health |

| 22 | 22 | | Professions, she competes with the tennis team at Bellaire High and |

| 23 | 23 | | is poised for further athletic success in the years ahead; she is |

| 24 | 24 | | looking forward to studying law and medicine in college; and |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |

| 26 | 26 | | high school tennis players, Catherine Shen has become a source of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | great pride for her classmates and community, and she will cherish |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | her memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
