| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Alberto "Roc" Ramos is retiring from the |

| 6 | 6 | | Dallas Police Department in 2023, drawing to a close an outstanding |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | career that has spanned more than three decades; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Ramos first joined the force as a member of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the department's Southwest Division in January 1992, and in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | December 1995, he began a five-year stint in the gang unit; over the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | years, his career has included work as a school resource officer at |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Molina High School, as a member of the department's human |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | trafficking task force, and as a member of the Operation Disruption |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | team that focused on improving the safety of the city's high-crime |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | areas; he was promoted to sergeant after serving as a detective in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the gang unit, during which time he was involved in a number of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | local and federal gang investigations; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In addition to fulfilling his duties as a member of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Dallas PD, Sergeant Ramos led the Greater Dallas Chapter of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | National Latino Peace Officers Association as president from 1998 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to 2000, before serving as the national vice president of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | organization from 2000 to 2004; currently, he is the vice president |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Alberto "Roc" Ramos has greatly benefited |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the citizens of Dallas through his skill, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | commitment to public safety, and he may indeed reflect with pride on |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | his contributions as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Sergeant Alberto "Roc" Ramos on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | retirement from the Dallas Police Department and extend to him |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
