H.R. No. 1755 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Sergeant Alberto "Roc" Ramos is retiring from the Dallas Police Department in 2023, drawing to a close an outstanding career that has spanned more than three decades; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Ramos first joined the force as a member of the department's Southwest Division in January 1992, and in December 1995, he began a five-year stint in the gang unit; over the years, his career has included work as a school resource officer at Molina High School, as a member of the department's human trafficking task force, and as a member of the Operation Disruption team that focused on improving the safety of the city's high-crime areas; he was promoted to sergeant after serving as a detective in the gang unit, during which time he was involved in a number of local and federal gang investigations; and WHEREAS, In addition to fulfilling his duties as a member of the Dallas PD, Sergeant Ramos led the Greater Dallas Chapter of the National Latino Peace Officers Association as president from 1998 to 2000, before serving as the national vice president of the organization from 2000 to 2004; currently, he is the vice president of the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Alberto "Roc" Ramos has greatly benefited the citizens of Dallas through his skill, professionalism, and commitment to public safety, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his contributions as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Sergeant Alberto "Roc" Ramos on his retirement from the Dallas Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Sergeant Ramos as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
