| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Max Callahan of Canton is achieving his goal |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of visiting all 63 U.S. national parks by traveling to the last park |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | on his list, National Park of American Samoa, on May 25, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Canton, Max Callahan has |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | enjoyed experiencing the many natural wonders of regions across the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | United States, and some of his favorite national parks include |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Yosemite, Zion, Glacier, and Acadia; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Callahan is a former educator and administrator |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for the Canton Independent School District, where he worked as a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | social studies and history teacher at Canton Junior High School for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | many years; he also served as principal of Canton Junior High from |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 1985 to 2000, and he led Canton High School from 2000 to 2008 and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | again in fall 2013; he holds bachelor's and master's degrees from |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | East Texas State University; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Callahan benefits from the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | love and support of his wife, Marilyn, and he takes great pride in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | his daughters, Lauren and Erin, and grandsons, Miles and Owen; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The establishment and preservation of the U.S. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | national parks have allowed generations of Americans to explore and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | appreciate the natural splendor of our country, and Max Callahan is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to be commended for the patriotism and dedication he has |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | demonstrated in taking full advantage of all that these treasured |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | landmarks have to offer; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Richard Max Callahan on achieving |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | his goal of visiting all 63 U.S. national parks and extend to him |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
