H.R. No. 1758
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Richard Max Callahan of Canton is achieving his goal
of visiting all 63 U.S. national parks by traveling to the last park
on his list, National Park of American Samoa, on May 25, 2023; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Canton, Max Callahan has
enjoyed experiencing the many natural wonders of regions across the
United States, and some of his favorite national parks include
Yosemite, Zion, Glacier, and Acadia; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Callahan is a former educator and administrator
for the Canton Independent School District, where he worked as a
social studies and history teacher at Canton Junior High School for
many years; he also served as principal of Canton Junior High from
1985 to 2000, and he led Canton High School from 2000 to 2008 and
again in fall 2013; he holds bachelor's and master's degrees from
East Texas State University; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Callahan benefits from the
love and support of his wife, Marilyn, and he takes great pride in
his daughters, Lauren and Erin, and grandsons, Miles and Owen; and
WHEREAS, The establishment and preservation of the U.S.
national parks have allowed generations of Americans to explore and
appreciate the natural splendor of our country, and Max Callahan is
to be commended for the patriotism and dedication he has
demonstrated in taking full advantage of all that these treasured
landmarks have to offer; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Richard Max Callahan on achieving
his goal of visiting all 63 U.S. national parks and extend to him
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Callahan as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
