| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Texas PTA president Suzi Kennon has distinguished |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | herself as a tireless advocate for Texas youth; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Since 2020, Mrs. Kennon has overseen Texas PTA, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | which was founded in 1909 and has proved to be a vital resource for |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | parents, teachers, school administrators, and community leaders; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | nearly half a million members strong, the organization seeks to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | encourage family engagement in order to promote the health, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | education, and overall well-being of children on school campuses |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | across the state; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A committed champion of her local community, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Mrs. Kennon has held several leadership roles with the Wylie ISD |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | PTA, including president; during her tenure at the helm of the Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | PTA, she has ably guided the organization through the many |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Kennon is a recipient of the Elizabeth W. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Garrison Award from the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, and Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | PTA named her an honorary life member and recognized her with an |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | extended service award; in addition, she received the National PTA |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Life Achievement Award; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Kennon enjoys the love |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and support of a fine family that includes her husband and three |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | children; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Suzi Kennon has contributed significantly to the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | nearly 2,200 PTAs in the Lone Star State and helped make the state |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | an even better place in which to live and raise a family, and her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | outstanding efforts in behalf of Texas schoolchildren are indeed |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | deserving of commendation; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Suzi Kennon for her service to Texas PTA |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
