H.R. No. 1774 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Texas PTA president Suzi Kennon has distinguished herself as a tireless advocate for Texas youth; and WHEREAS, Since 2020, Mrs. Kennon has overseen Texas PTA, which was founded in 1909 and has proved to be a vital resource for parents, teachers, school administrators, and community leaders; nearly half a million members strong, the organization seeks to encourage family engagement in order to promote the health, education, and overall well-being of children on school campuses across the state; and WHEREAS, A committed champion of her local community, Mrs. Kennon has held several leadership roles with the Wylie ISD PTA, including president; during her tenure at the helm of the Texas PTA, she has ably guided the organization through the many challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Kennon is a recipient of the Elizabeth W. Garrison Award from the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, and Texas PTA named her an honorary life member and recognized her with an extended service award; in addition, she received the National PTA Life Achievement Award; and WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Kennon enjoys the love and support of a fine family that includes her husband and three children; and WHEREAS, Suzi Kennon has contributed significantly to the nearly 2,200 PTAs in the Lone Star State and helped make the state an even better place in which to live and raise a family, and her outstanding efforts in behalf of Texas schoolchildren are indeed deserving of commendation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby commend Suzi Kennon for her service to Texas PTA and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Kennon as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
