H.R. No. 1899
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sophia Bendet of Randolph High School in Universal
City achieved great distinction by winning two gold medals and a
bronze medal at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Track &
Field State Meet; and
WHEREAS, Joining the other top 3A competitors at Mike A.
Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, Ms. Bendet turned in an
exceptional performance; in the 1,600-meter race, she recorded a
time of 5 minutes, 7.56 seconds, to claim the title, and she
collected a second gold medal in the 800-meter event, crossing the
finish line with a time of 2:16.01; she further contributed to
Randolph High's superb showing at the meet as a member of the
school's 1,600-meter relay team, which placed third with a time of
3:58.39; and
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
high school track and field athletes, Sophia Bendet has ably
represented her school and community, and she will cherish her
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Sophia Bendet on winning two gold
medals and a bronze medal at the 2023 UIL Track & Field State Meet
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Bendet as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
