| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sabien Perry of Dumas High School closed out his |

| 7 | 7 | | Texas High School Powerlifting Association Division 2 State Meet; |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school lifters in Texas |

| 10 | 10 | | at the state event in Abilene on March 24, Mr. Perry delivered an |

| 11 | 11 | | outstanding performance in the 165-pound weight class; hoisting 600 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | pounds in squat, 420 pounds in bench press, and 545 pounds in dead |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | lift, he racked up 1,565 total pounds to clinch a third-place |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | finish; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Perry has enjoyed notable success over the |

| 16 | 16 | | course of his high school career; as a sophomore in 2021, he |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | qualified for the state meet and finished in seventh place, and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | following year, he returned to the competition and claimed his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | first bronze medal with an impressive showing in the 181-pound |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | category; and |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Sabien Perry has excelled through skill, hard work, |

| 22 | 22 | | and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and in so doing, he has |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | become a source of great pride for his school and his community; |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
