R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sabien Perry of Dumas High School closed out his
senior year of competition by winning a bronze medal at the 2023
Texas High School Powerlifting Association Division 2 State Meet;
and
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school lifters in Texas
at the state event in Abilene on March 24, Mr. Perry delivered an
outstanding performance in the 165-pound weight class; hoisting 600
pounds in squat, 420 pounds in bench press, and 545 pounds in dead
lift, he racked up 1,565 total pounds to clinch a third-place
finish; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Perry has enjoyed notable success over the
course of his high school career; as a sophomore in 2021, he
qualified for the state meet and finished in seventh place, and the
following year, he returned to the competition and claimed his
first bronze medal with an impressive showing in the 181-pound
category; and
WHEREAS, Sabien Perry has excelled through skill, hard work,
and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and in so doing, he has
become a source of great pride for his school and his community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Sabien Perry on winning a bronze
medal in in the 165-pound weight class at the 2023 TSHPA Division 2
State Meet and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Perry as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
