44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Dexter McCoy took office as the Fort Bend County
66 commissioner for Precinct 4 in January 2023; and
77 WHEREAS, In fulfilling the duties of his office, Mr. McCoy
88 draws on a wealth of valuable experience; he began his career in
99 public service as an appointee in the Obama administration, where
1010 he focused on college access issues and addressing harassment in
1111 schools; following his return from Washington, D.C., he was a
1212 district leader in the Fort Bend Independent School District;
1313 furthermore, he served as a board member on the Gulf Coast Workforce
1414 Board-Workforce Solutions, and he later worked as chief of staff to
1515 the Fort Bend County Judge, during which time he successfully
1616 fought for a nonprofit grant program and created an $11 million
1717 public-private partnership to address key priorities, such as
1818 expanding Internet access; and
1919 WHEREAS, A product of Fort Bend County public schools,
2020 Mr. McCoy holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and
2121 political science from Boston University; in all of his endeavors,
2222 he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Chelsea, and their
2323 daughter, Piper; and
2424 WHEREAS, The effective operation of government depends on the
2525 able and dedicated efforts of our public servants, and Dexter
2626 McCoy's skills and experience are sure to serve him well in his new
2727 role; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2929 Legislature hereby congratulate Dexter McCoy on his election as the
3030 Fort Bend County commissioner for Precinct 4 and extend to him
3131 sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further
3232 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3333 prepared for Mr. McCoy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3434 House of Representatives.
