| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dexter McCoy took office as the Fort Bend County |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commissioner for Precinct 4 in January 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, In fulfilling the duties of his office, Mr. McCoy |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | draws on a wealth of valuable experience; he began his career in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | public service as an appointee in the Obama administration, where |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | he focused on college access issues and addressing harassment in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | schools; following his return from Washington, D.C., he was a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | district leader in the Fort Bend Independent School District; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | furthermore, he served as a board member on the Gulf Coast Workforce |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Board-Workforce Solutions, and he later worked as chief of staff to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the Fort Bend County Judge, during which time he successfully |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fought for a nonprofit grant program and created an $11 million |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | public-private partnership to address key priorities, such as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | expanding Internet access; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A product of Fort Bend County public schools, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Mr. McCoy holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | political science from Boston University; in all of his endeavors, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Chelsea, and their |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | daughter, Piper; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The effective operation of government depends on the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | able and dedicated efforts of our public servants, and Dexter |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | McCoy's skills and experience are sure to serve him well in his new |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | role; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dexter McCoy on his election as the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Fort Bend County commissioner for Precinct 4 and extend to him |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further |
